The Cultural Memory Atlas

Share a memory of Laguna Beach.

A story, a photograph, a place that mattered. We're building this slowly, contributor by contributor, into a living archive of the town's cultural memory. Everything below is reviewed by the editor before it appears publicly.

Tell your story.

A sentence or a paragraph or a page — whatever the memory deserves.

Or — if it's easier than typing — record yourself telling the story. Up to 3 minutes.

Add a photograph or document.

A photo, a scan, a family snapshot. JPEG, PNG, or HEIC; up to 25 MB.

What place is this about?

Search any address or landmark — or use your current location and refine on the map.

Other ways to set the place

If your place is one of the 91 known atlas pins, pick it for tighter linking. Or describe a place that doesn't have a clear address.

About you.

Optional, but helpful — let us know who you are and how to credit you.

If the editor approves your contribution, the credit name and license you choose below will appear on the public Memories map alongside your story.

How to credit you publicly

One last thing.

Reuse settings default: non-commercial use with credit

By default we let schools and the archive itself reuse your contribution with credit, but not commercial publishers. You can change that here if you want.

Every contribution is read by the editor before anything goes public. You'll get a private link in your receipt to withdraw your story whenever you want.

The Cultural Memory Atlas

Thank you.

We received your contribution. The editor will review it and, if it fits the archive, it will appear publicly within a week or two.

Save this link. If you ever want to withdraw your contribution from the archive, visit it. We won't email it to you (since email is optional), so this is your only copy.
